BMW 7 Series Sedan (E23)

The first BMW 7 Series had the same technical platform as the large 6 Series Coupés introduced a year earlier. The series was launched in 1977 with the internal code E23. The stylistic attributes of the sedan were influenced by BMW designer Paul Bracq and only one body version was supplied with the dimensions approximating to those of the long-wheelbase version of the previous E3 model. The first 7 Series succeeded in combining the typical BMW sporty driving style and handling characteristics with the form of a luxury sedan.
