In spring 1957, BMW presented a new top-of-the-range model in the 502 model series, the BMW 502 3.2 litre Super. The V8 twin-carburettor engine familiar from the BMW 503 and 507 with 3.2 litre capacity packed 140 hp in the new sedan and delivered masterly performance. From September 1958, BMW marketed this model as the BMW 3.2 Super without carrying out any significant technical modifications. However, the model was renamed in 1962 but the BMW 3200 S successor now delivered 160 hp.
