The BMW Z4 was the successor to the BMW Z3. The sports car was supplied as a roadster and a coupé and was manufactured exclusively in Spartanburg (USA). The market launch in America took place in 2002 and the BMW Z4 was available for purchase in Germany from spring of 2003. The focus for this automobile was on authenticity and sheer driving pleasure. The coupé launched from 2006 was only available powered by six-cylinder engines. The most athletic versions are the BMW Z4 M Roadster and the BMW Z4 M Coupé. The BMW Z4 Roadster (E85) was succeeded by the BMW Z4 (E89), but there was no successor for the coupé.
