BMW offered a coupé and from September 1959 a two-door sedan as standard bodies for the BMW 700. Already from spring 1962, the sedan was provided with a revised and bigger body, and from then onwards the type designation was BMW LS right up until the end of the production run. From September 1959 until July 1965, the sedan was supplied in a variety of different versions and a total of 155,000 automobiles were produced during the production run. The proportion of total production for the BMW 700 was therefore approximately 85%.
