A three-wheeler version of the BMW Isetta was also manufactured in Munich, primarily intended for export to Austria, Switzerland, Holland and Scandinavia. In these countries, more favourable taxation was in place because three-wheeler automobiles were classified as motorcycles. 1,605 units based on the BMW Isetta 300 Export were produced in Munich between March 1959 and January 1960. The notably high CKD and SKD production was much bigger. More than 20,000 vehicles were manufactured using these assembly methods up to 1964, most of this production took place in England.
