BMW 327/28 model

The most frequent criticism levelled at the BMW 327 was the low engine output of 55 hp. BMW responded to the critique with the BMW 327/28. Essentially, this was a BMW 327 that had been fitted with the three-carburettor engine from the BMW 328 - effectively a "souped-up" ("heiße") version of the BMW 327 developing an output of 80 hp. The BMW 327/28 was launched on the marketplace in October 1938. Customers had a choice between a sports convertible and a sports coupé. Only 569 units were manufactured in the period up to April 1940, most of them with the bodywork of a convertible (482 units). A number of examples were still delivered abroad after the outbreak of war. Today the BMW 327/28 ranks among the most exclusive of BMW classic cars.
