In the year 2000, a Touring version was also launched, which adopted the 3.0 litre diesel engine from the BMW 330d Sedan (E46). The BMW 330d Touring therefore now also had the latest six-cylinder high-tech diesel engine installed with common rail direct injection (M57D30). At this point, the engine still had an output of 184 hp and a maximum torque of 390 Nm. However, from 2003 onwards, a version with revised engineering (M57TÜ) was deployed, which had an output of as much as 204 hp and delivered a torque of 410 Nm. As a result of the combination of common rail injection and the variable turbine geometry of the turbocharger, the turbo gap was virtually entirely eliminated. Consequently, the BMW 330d Touring also impressed with the sporty driving experience so typical of BMW. The concept won over more than 39,000 customers. It was only produced for the European market.
