BMW 318td Compact (E46)

Shortly before the production run came to an end, the BMW 318td was added as the final representative of the Compact series in March 2003. The four-cylinder diesel engine (M47D20TÜ) featured common rail injection and a turbocharger with adjustable vanes (variable turbine geometry, VTG). The 2.0 litre power unit in the BMW 318td Compact generated a power output of 115 hp. In spite of the short production run of just under two years, more than 10,000 vehicles of this type were produced at the Munich Plant.
