The BMW 320Ci Convertible (E46) was launched in the marketplace in 2000. This convertible was intended for buyers who wanted to share the feeling generated by the BMW six-cylinder inline engines but preferred a rather more economical car. Consumption of 9.4 litres for every 100 kilometres made the convertible fuel efficient and the purchase price was DM 4,000 lower than that of the other six-cylinder models (DM 66,400). Notwithstanding the lower price, owners were still able to enjoy the truly authentic sound of the latest BMW M54 engine generation when the soft top was down. The engine was installed here in the 2.2 litre version and it delivered a power output of 170 hp.
