When the BMW 320Cd Coupé was launched, it broke an even greater taboo than the BMW 330Cd Coupé. While the combination of coupé and four-cylinder diesel engine had previously been an absolute no-go area, these combinations and similar designs now became not only respectable, they were even part of a mainstream trend from 2003. The four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with common rail direct injection generated 150 hp in the BMW 320Cd Coupé and already developed the maximum torque of 330 Nm at 2,000 rpm.
