STORY OF THE WEEK
FROM MCCARTNEY TO THE QUEEN: HOW THE MINI BECAME THE “MUST HAVE”.
Naturally, Paul McCartney could have driven any of the world’s luxury cars in 1967, indeed he could have owned any number of them. The fact that he preferred to drive a Mini – in his private life – proves that the cheeky little car was the ultimate in cool – and remains so to this day. It was also a “must have” for celebrity trendsetters. Queen Elizabeth was chauffeured around the grounds of Windsor Castle in a Mini, Twiggy passed her driving test in a Mini, and Brigitte Bardot used a Mini to give her dogs fresh air. The BMW Press Club is celebrating the 60th anniversary with a charming series of wonderful stories and photos: Highlights from the life of a style icon.
