Initially, the fourth generation of the BMW 7 Series was launched with V8 petrol engines. From 2004, a new V8 engine generation was installed in these vehicles. The bigger of the two engines had a displacement of 4,799 cc, generated maximum power of 367 hp and developed a maximum torque of 490 Nm. Apart from an increased body length of 14 cm, the BMW 750Li was virtually identical with the BMW 750i. This power unit accelerated the vehicle in the sprint to 100 km/h within 6.0 seconds.
