A look ahead at 2017.

Dear friends,

What’s the best part of the turn of the year? Exactly, the anticipation for the new season, especially one that is so full of highlights. 2017 will certainly not be a boring year, that much we can say. Here are a couple of themes you should keep an eye out for.

The Return of the King.

Elvis’s famous car, the BMW 507, which the King once drove in Germany, was discovered out of the blue in a pumpkin shed in California. It first appeared in the BMW Museum in 2014 - dusty and unrestored - but now it has been returned to its former glory for display in a special exhibition. His car may not attract the screaming fans like the man himself, but it will certainly be a sight to behold.

The allure of the south.

May will be dolce, but not far niente. For us anyway, because the mighty Mille Miglia will be starting the Italian leg of its tour. Then a week later, from the 26th to 28th of May, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will be the talk of the town. Its motto Around the world in 80 days – Voyage through an era of records, promises nothing less than a breathtaking collection of sensational vehicles.

Ready for the islands.

Gentlemen, start your engines. This summer, everyone will be heading over to England for the Goodwood Festival of Speed to see racing cars doing what they were designed to do - racing! The Goodwood Revival will not be quite as loud but there will be plenty of the inimitable British lifestyle on display.

The International Mini Meeting in Ireland is also sure to be a crowd-pleaser. We are looking forward to see what the clubs have up their sleeves this time around. But whatever they have chosen; it will definitely be flamboyant and plenty of fun.

Home games.

Berlin may not be too far away, but its international flair is second to none. We enjoyed Motorworld Classics so much that BMW Group Classic 2017 simply had to attend again.

By the end of the year we will be swinging by our own front door, with a new exhibition in the BMW Museum - BMW i. It will cover an extremely innovative topic: the automobile revolution kick-started at our very own company.

We hope you can join us and enjoy a happy and healthy New Year.
