UNDER THE SKIN.

A rally of modern classic cars like a flashy advertisement from the seventies. Bright colours, crazy fashions and equally mad cars – their effects can still be felt today. The 13th creme21 rally took contestants from Mulhouse in France to Munich, where the BMW brand is currently celebrating the 100th anniversary of this company.

MISSION (IM)POSSIBLE.

Blistering heat and endless traffic jams: It’s Rush-hour in downtown L.A. The short film “A Perfect Match”, produced by BMW Group Classic, follows BMW fanatic Jack on his desperate search for a spare part for his beloved BMW 1602 – which comes unfortunately without an air conditioner. After several sketchy encounters with sleezy car salesmen Jack slowly arrives to the conclusion that he might find himself on an (im)possible mission.

ALL GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES.

„Three of a kind“ is the iconic sequel to the short film saga “Bimmerstories.la” produced by BMW Group Classic. This time everything revolves around the world’s largest-selling premium car and the very core of the BMW brand: the BMW 3series. Alongside the first three generations of the 3 series product range the two friends Derek and Gordon take the stage. Each of them wants to impress the beautiful Keri – not only with their very own classic cars. An hilarious discussion starts, leading to a surprising twist.

No other car turned the world of rally racing in the 1960s upside down like the BMC Mini Cooper S.

GHOST RIDER.

110 years ago, the first Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost began a sensational long-distance drive of more than 2,000 miles between London and Glasgow and back. It spectacularly proved the qualities of the new 40/50 hp model presented in 1906 and established the unique reputation of Rolls-Royce vehicles.

THE PERFECT TEAM.

No other car turned the world of rally racing in the 1960s upside down like the BMC Mini Cooper S, that won the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique a total of three times. The last winner was Finish driver, Rauno Aaltonen, in 1967. He joined the race again and was at the start line of the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique 2017 driving an original rally car from back in the day.

A LOOK BACK AT 2016.

BMW Group Classic is taking stock of an extraordinary year 2016.

80 YEARS OF THE BMW 328.

It featured the elongated engine bonnet with sporty leather straps from day one. The BMW 328 was the bold implementation of new construction ideas, such as the lightweight construction, which is still an essential part of all BMW models. It also featured a high-performance six-cylinder engine. Racing drivers who had their eyes set on the highest step of the podium would have to drive BMW - the new benchmark within its class which still to this day embodies dynamics, aesthetics and the highest degree of innovation.

CONCORSO D’ELEGANZA VILLA D’ESTE 2016.

Rain, wind and cold - the forecast on the evening before the 2016 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este did not bode well. Would this year's event be attended by visitors in raincoats, hats and gloves?

THE BMW GROUP CLASSIC IS MOVING.

Hurrah, yippee and awesome - the BMW Group Classic is there!

We have of course been “there” for much longer, but not “there” until now.
By there we mean our new (old) property on Moosacher Straße in the north of Munich. We have finally moved our new headquarters, the BMW Group Classic, to where the first BMW production facilities first came into being, rather appropriately in our anniversary year.

INSTANT AND ENDURING SUCCESS.

When the first BMW 3 Series model range took to the stage in 1975, it presented a case for dynamic excellence and sports performance unmatched by any of its rivals. Available in just one body variant, the two-door sedan also created a new category of car: the modern sports sedan. By 1983, over 1.3 million units of the first-generation 3 Series had been sold, concluding the first chapter in a story of success which continues to this day. The 3 Series has since become the biggest-selling model range in the BMW line-up.

Talk about a moving experience; our journey “back to the future” is certainly an emotional one. Every department of BMW Group Classic – the historic archive, the collection of cars and motorcycles, the workshop and the parts service – will be swept up in our change of address, as will the hearts of everyone who works here.

AND THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.

And so another year approaches journey’s end. Time once again to cast a reviewer’s eye back over the most exciting events and projects of the 12 months almost gone. From the renovation-cum-construction of the new BMW Group Classic building and restoration of the legendary BMW 507 once owned by Elvis Presley to the action at the Goodwood Festival of Speed – 2015 has been one long highlights reel. Much to the delight of classic car and BMW Group Classic aficionados everywhere.

EXPERIENCE THE RESTORATION OF ELVIS' BMW "LIVE".

For some it may just be an old roadster with ripped seats, flaking red paint and dirty bodywork. For most, though, this is a magical car, a sensational model that sets hearts beating in full-on rock ’n’ roll ecstasy: it’s the roadster once owned by Elvis.

NEVER WAS THE PAST SO NEAR.

BMW AG has acquired from Knorr-Bremse AG a more than 13,000 m2 plot of land in Munich that is soon to be the new home of BMW Group Classic. The site is ideal as BMW Group Classic’s new headquarters not only on account of its proximity to the BMW Tower, BMW Welt, the BMW Museum and BMW Plant Munich, but also because it forges a link to the brand’s past.

LIGHT YEARS.

For almost 90 years, BMW has been out to zap every superfluous kilogram carried by its cars. Shedding weight is the watchword, and not without reason. It is only lighter cars, after all, that can deliver enhanced efficiency and dynamics. And that’s why BMW has always subscribed to the rigorous and intelligent use of light metals and materials such as aluminium, magnesium and carbon (CFRP). Even new production methods have traditionally had those extra pounds in their sights: electric gas-shielded welding or the bonding of materials allow for more innovative designs that can save a substantial amount of weight.

BMW WRITES S (HI)STORY OF SUCCESS.

The first chapter in BMW’s successful history in motor sport began in May 1924, when motorcycle rider Franz Bieber won the German 500cc championship. The company’s success on the racing scene has endured for nine decades now – on two, three and four wheels – with BMW riders and drivers amassing countless titles in national, European and world championships.
