In the mid-1950s, racing sidecars became increasingly flatter. About ten years later, the pilots ride their machines in an almost lying position. The BMW flat-twin engine is almost predestined for this flat design and is still absolutely competitive after two decades of racing. However, BMW not only dominated the world championships: Siegfried Schauzu and his co-drivers also won the race on the Isle of Man a total of nine times between 1967 and 1975.
